Why don't you visit Singapore in your 2012 holidays ?

Last year we visit Singapore. Here is my review about it.

I know most of you people think it’s a crazy thing to goto Singapore for holiday with a 1 year old baby. Well, it is not, in fact it was the best holiday of our lives.

After a loooong flight,we landed at a sunny and warm airport with a high degree of humidity. I started to think about the mosquitos at the moment i set foot in Singapore. But don’t worry, you always have insect blockers at the markets :) And all the shops, even open streets are mostly air conditioned,so you don’t have to worry about the hot weather. But you should be careful about the sudden temperature changes.

As told by our friends who have visited this country before, we took a taxi to our hotel. Since the taxi companies are government partnered, the taxi fees are really low. So we used taxis as our main transportation vehicles during the holiday.

Jetlag and Time slice change are the main issues you will encounter at the first day of your Singapore holiday. But on your way to your hotel, seeing such a green city with colorful tropical trees and flowers will take away most of your exhaustion.

Our hotel was located close to the ORchard road, which is the most known street of the city. It’s full of shops of many brands, this is why i loved it so much alltough my husband hated it deadly  But they also had hundreds of electronics shops, so that i could send him to see new toys while i could shop around with my baby. The hardest part of being a mother is trying new clothes while you have to care the baby, but as expected, shopping has no boundries, the problem was easily solved by the clerks for me. They were so helpful.

When you go to Singapore, there are some places you must see, like the zoo and the aquarium both of which are famous worldwide. You should also see the dolphinarium on the Sentosa island, really great fun. Singapore is also famous for exotic foods and drinks,so you should try them too. But be careful about what you eat, otherwise you can loose a whole day at your hotel room because of mild food poisoning, like me.

Just like South Africa, Singapore was an English colony for a long time, so the main language is English, and the people are mostly chinese, malaysian or indian. So it’s really easy to get help while you are walking around the city, as everyone knows English. You can find food of many different cultures, but it is mostly seafood, so please be careful about your meals.
They have quite high punishments for crime,so the crime rate is very low compared to other countries alike. They even fine you for throwing a piece of paper on the street,so nobody throws anything on the streets.

One last warning, keep an eye on your husband when he goes into an electronics store. Otherwise you might have to leave your lovely shoes at the hotel room because of baggage limitations and his “more expensive” SLR camera.
